Intro
I began writing this blog in 2014 during my PhD at Trinity College Dublin and my early posts were focused on my thinking during a formative and introspective period of my academic life. I have since returned to this blog in 2020 with a wealth of experiences that I hope put me in a better position to discuss a broad range of topics, from biotech innovation and venture capital to politics and social commentary.
In this, my own personal corner of the web I hope to craft thoughts into words. I hope you find these words intriguing, inspiring and perhaps a little challenging.

Bio
As Director of Venture Development at Pioneer Group, I oversee venture building programmes that help founders to fund and scale breakthrough life sciences ventures. I lead a team that brings together domain expertise, seasoned executive talent, venture capital, and lab infrastructure to support companies that solve global challenges in human and planetary health.
Previously, I was Head of Sequencing at Desktop Genetics, a venture-backed genomics startup that enabled therapeutic applications of CRISPR and other genome editing technologies. I contributed to the company's fundraising and product development, as well as publishing multiple papers on CRISPR design and bioinformatics. I hold a PhD in Clinical Medicine, an MSc in Molecular Medicine, and a BSc in Neuroscience. I am passionate about accelerating cures for human and planetary health and empowering the next generation of life sciences innovators.
